About Sandy

Sandy Eldred is an internationally acclaimed bassist, recording artist, composer, and music educator living in Philadelphia, PA. Eldred is known for his inventiveness and command across music genres. He is represented by Ukrainian record label, LabelWhoAble.

Eldred is co-founder of U.S.E. Trio and Multi Mansions. He is an active member of the Bogdan Gumenyuk Quartet, the Michael Hudson-Casanova Sextet, and leader of the Sandy Eldred Trio.

After officially joining Norman David and the Eleventet in 2011, he continued on to hold the bass chair for other Philadelphia based large ensembles including, Ian O’Beirne’s Slowbern, Jamal Jones’ Bureau of Sonic Wonderland, Matt Gallagher’s Philly Big Band, and the Earl Phillips Big Band. Eldred has also performed with the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra, the South Philly Big Band, and Bobby Zankel and the Warriors of the Wonderful Sound, working alongside the late, Muhal Richard Abrams.

Eldred studied double bass performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA (M.M. 2013). He is a founding member of Jazz Mission (2018), an international educational project that helps to inspire the younger generation of musicians in Ukraine. As an educator, Eldred offers lessons, masterclasses, and workshops. Eldred has taught students at colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Eastern Europe.
