Mandy Guilfoyle
About Mandy
Hi! My name is Mandy Guilfoyle, and I'm a cello teacher. I've been a professional cellist for 20 years and teaching private lessons for 10 years. I received my B.A. in Music (Cello Performance) from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX, where I studied with soloist Andres Diaz. After my bachelor's degree, I continued to complete my M.M. in Music Education from Southern Methodist University as well. As a cellist, I have performed all over the USA, France, Italy, and Austria as a soloist, principal orchestral cellist, and chamber musician. In 2019, I was honored to perform the Ibert Cello Concerto with the Blue Ridge Orchestra. As a teacher, I have taught private students ages 4-74, and all levels from beginning to advanced, as well as plenty of experience in a classroom setting.
I like to make lessons fun and productive, every single time. My educational philosophy is that music is something students need to cope with this crazy world, and it is my responsibility to make music whatever my students need: silly, peaceful, expressive, a place to vent, a place to cry- whatever it may be, my goal is to give my students the skills, techniques, and abilities to make music whatever they need it to be for themselves.
That being said- I do expect my students to practice and put in 100% effort! I believe that everyone has the ability to succeed in music lessons if you're willing to put in time and energy. I can give you the tools, but I can't do it for you.
Let's chat- I'd love to set up lessons! We're going to have so much fun and learn so much!
