About Kate

Kate Keating has extensive experience both teaching and performing. She is a New York State certified music teacher for grades Pre-K through twelve and loves to work with all ages and abilities! Kate believes in fostering a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for her students while encouraging them to grow both as musicians and performers.

She is a proud graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester where she completed a dual major in Music Education and Music Theatre. Kate also completed her Master's Degree in Music Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. Over the past decade, Kate has directed and/or music directed for professional regional theater, summer stock, community theater, summer camps, and public schools. She has taught music to students of all ages in several school districts. As an actress, Kate has professional touring, regional, and children’s theatre credits, with vast experience in performing musical theatre.

In Kate’s vocal lessons, she tailors her instruction to meet the individual’s needs and goals while also always focusing on healthy singing and proper vocal technique. She can teach various styles, sight reading, how to read music, etc., and also specializes in teaching and working on musical theatre repertoire with her students.

Kate teaches both voice lessons and acting lessons. As a current musical theatre class instructor, Kate can even focus lessons only on musical theatre instruction if the student wants that as an option. Kate can help prepare students for any musical theatre or theatre audition, can offer training in musical theatre and acting audition technique, can work on acting sides and callback material, and can provide musical theatre and monologue coaching. Additionally, Kate can guide and help anyone create or edit an acting resume, and can give specific feedback on how to make your resume look more professional.
